Sign-in methods and connecting Google
Connect a Google account, even one with a different email, and disconnect it again.

Open Account → Sign-in methods to see how you can sign in. Email always works: OweJar sends a code to your account’s email address.
Connect Google
- Choose Connect Google.
- Pick the Google account you want to use. Its email can be different from your OweJar email.
- You return to the Account page with Google is connected. From now on, Continue with Google with that Google account opens your OweJar account.
Your OweJar email may be an address like abc123@privaterelay.appleid.com. Connect your everyday Google account here, and you can sign in on the web with Google instead of waiting for a code at the relay address.
When Google can’t be connected
- Another OweJar account already uses that email. Each email belongs to one OweJar account. Sign in to that other account instead, or connect a different Google account.
- That Google account is connected to another OweJar account. Disconnect it there first.
- Google hasn’t verified the email on that Google account. Verify it with Google, then try again.
- The shared demo account can’t connect Google.
What changes after connecting
- Your OweJar email, name and records stay exactly as they were.
- Email codes still go to your OweJar email, not to the Google address.
- The connected Google address can’t be used to create a separate OweJar account, by email code or by Google, so it always leads to your account.
- If you change the address at Google, OweJar picks up the new one the next time you sign in with Google.
Disconnect Google
- Choose Disconnect next to Google and confirm with Disconnect Google.
- If your sign-in is older than 10 minutes, choose Confirm it’s you, sign in again and repeat.
Afterwards you sign in with an email code to your OweJar email. The Google address is free again: it can connect to another account or start a new one.
What OweJar keeps from Google
Only the link to your Google account and its email address. OweJar never stores Google passwords or access tokens, and never reads your Gmail, contacts or files.
Apple and the phone app
On iPhone, the phone app also offers Sign in with Apple. Apple accounts can’t be connected from the web page; use the phone app or an email code.
