Is OweJar really free?
Yes. Every feature on the web is free for every account, with no card needed. OweJar Pro is an optional purchase in the phone app that adds multi-device sync for your phone’s records.
Does OweJar move money or connect to my bank?
No. OweJar is a record of what happened. It never connects to bank accounts, moves money or pays bills. When you record a payment, you’re updating your ledger.
Do I need the phone app?
No. You can sign up and use OweJar entirely in your browser. The phone app is there if you want notifications, contacts and records that live on your device.
Can I split with people who don’t use OweJar?
Yes. Add them to a group as guests, or send a view-only link that anyone can open without signing in. When they join later, they can take over their guest place.
Which AI assistants work with OweJar?
Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers with sign-in, including ChatGPT and Claude. You add OweJar’s connection address, sign in, and choose what the assistant may do.
Who can see my records?
Only you can see your private book. People in a group see that group’s expenses and balances, never your private entries. AI assistants see only what you allow, and you can disconnect them at any time.
Which currencies and languages are supported?
Your book uses one currency you choose, and each group can use its own. The web app is in English and Hindi; the phone app supports nine languages.
Can I take my data with me or delete it?
Yes. Download all your records from your Account page at any time. You can also delete your account there; groups keep their history with your name removed.
