Connections and your sharing profile
Your sharing code and QR, what others see about you, ways to get paid and blocking.
On this page
Your sharing profile is what other OweJar users see when you share groups with them. Your private book is never part of it.
Set up your sharing profile
Open Account → Sharing → Sharing profile. You can set:
- a display name and photo,
- a UPI ID, a PayPal.Me link or a UPI payment QR, so people can pay you from a group or statement.
Ways to get paid
Under Ways to get paid on the same page, add up to 10 more payment methods, such as a bank transfer, Venmo, Wise or cash. Each has a name, up to 10 details (for example account holder, account number and IFSC) and an optional QR image from your bank or payment app. Start from a suggestion or type your own.
- Turn a method off to hide it everywhere without deleting it, and use the arrows to change the order.
- Only you can see your methods. They appear on a statement link or a view-only group link only if you chose them for that link, and only while the person viewing owes you.
- AI assistants can’t read or change your payment methods.
Your sharing code
Each account has a 12-character sharing code, also available as a QR code and a link. Give it to someone so they can connect with you. Use Replace code if you want old copies to stop working.
Connect with someone
- Enter their code, open their link, choose Scan QR code or Import QR image.
- They accept your request, and you can then add each other to groups directly.
OweJar only connects people through a code, QR or link that someone chose to share. It never matches accounts by email address, phone number or contacts.
Requests and activity
The inbox (Requests & activity) collects connection requests, group invitations, payment claims waiting for you and other group news.
Block someone
From a connection, choose Block to stop further requests from them.
